    Game-theoretical analysis for supply chain coordination with imperfect quality items

    In the contemporary decade, studying the economic order quantity models with consideration of imperfect quality items has appealed to many researchers. Only few papers are published discussing these models as well as the environmental impacts in a supply chain. In this paper, a two-echelon decentralized supply chain consisting of a manufacture who sells the items to a supplier in a situation that both of them face just in time inventory problem is considered. To the authors’ best knowledge, this is the very first paper that deals with imperfect items and environmental considerations in a decentralized supply chain by utilizing game theoretical approaches. Proposing two non-cooperative and one cooperative approaches, it is sought to find the optimal number of the shipments and the quantity of each shipment in a way that minimizes the both manufacturer’s and the supplier’s cost functions. Subsequently, the results of the decentralized and the centralized models are compared and conclusions are made.

    Material Requirement Planning (MRP) with fuzzy demand and constraints

    We propose a new fuzzy mathematical programming model for production planning under uncertainty in an industrial environment. This model considers fuzzy constraints related to the total costs, the market demand and the available capacity of the productive resources and fuzzy coefficients for the costs due to the backlog of demand and for the required capacity. The main goal is to determine the master production schedule of each product, the MRP (Material Requirement Planning) for each raw component in each period, stock levels, demand backlog, and capacity usage levels over a given planning horizon. Finally, the proposed model is tested by using data from an automobile seat assembler and compared with other fuzzy mathematical programming approaches. The experiment shows that the proposed model has not got a better behaviour than more simple fuzzy models, but the advantage is that both types of uncertainties, fuzziness and lack of knowledge or epistemic uncertainty can be considered in a model with fuzzy constraints and fuzzy coefficients.

Journal Paper An Enhanced Genetic Algorithm for the Generalized Traveling Salesman Problem

Abstract

The generalized traveling salesman problem (GTSP) deals with finding the minimum-cost tour in a clustered set of cities. In this problem, the traveler is interested in finding the best path that goes through all clusters. As this problem is NP-hard, implementing a metaheuristic algorithm to solve the large scale problems is inevitable. The performance of these algorithms can be intensively promoted by other heuristic algorithms. In this study, a search method is developed that improves the quality of the solutions and competition time considerably in comparison with Genetic Algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, the genetic algorithms with the Nearest Neighbor Search (NNS) are combined and a heuristic mutation operator is applied. According to the experimental results on a set of standard test problems with symmetric distances, the proposed algorithm finds the best solutions in most cases with the least computational time. The proposed algorithm is highly competitive with the published until now algorithms in both solution quality and running time.
